Make it: Hot toddies

Get a mug of this

Now, we Gobbling folk don’t nickel and dime; it’s freezing outside. Silly, fanciful people will tell you that the best way to combat the current cold snap is to wrap up warm, and stay indoors - unless completely necessary. But what they secretly know, and what we are telling you, is that the real answer lies at the bottom of a bottle of scotch. The real answer’s name is Toddy.

Devised by our chilly cousins up north of the border, the traditional Hot Toddy consists of little more than whisky, lemon, honey, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and water. But being the ostentatious old sorts we clearly are, we thought we’d bring you a few of our favest variations as well, collected on our travels. Enjoy.

The real beauty of these toddies is their flexibility. Obviously, we had to tie them down into recipe format, but don’t let that stop you adding a bit of whatever you fancy…

Here’s the traditional toddy

Here’s his sunny younger brother, using rum and lime

And here’s toddy’s appley old cousin
